Last November the idea of an
ex-Southern Africa Betar reunion in May 2008 was floated.
That letter indeed crossed from Israel to South Africa and onwards to
North America and Australasia and back to the UK. From the response I
have received it appears that there are quite a few ex-Betarim in
the Diaspora who are seriously considering visiting Israel specifically
to take part in such a reunion, so it is no longer merely an idea. The
date is definitely Sunday 4th May, 2008. The venue will be advertised
when all relevant details have been fully settled. |

| The primary purpose of this web site is to
reach our to all Southern African Betarim new and old, that have
contributed to the history of this unique Jewish
movement. From the earliest days in the 40's and 50's. Thousands of
Jewish youth were educated in the philosophy and Ideologies of great men
who literally crawled out of the "Pit and Decay" of a decimated war torn
Europe, and ultimately contributed in time and enormous human sacrifice
to the establishment of the State of Israel.
In rekindling our past, remembering the happy, the fun and glorious
days of our youth, we allow ourselves to also remember those Madrichim,
Shlichim, and Chanichim that are no longer with us, and how important,
especially in today's arduous times, it is to continue the spirit of
this unique ideology. |
